REAL SCIENCE PRO started over 49 years ago, when at 19 years old, I started work at the Baytown Exxon Refinery Laboratory. There were over 5000 applicants for 8 jobs…I was in the group of 8 who were hired that year. I can thank my peers, supervisors, and trainers for my thorough knowledge of proper lab techniques and my respect for safety in the laboratory. I can also thank Exxon for my degree! They arranged for the education, paid for the classes, and went over and above to see I was properly equipped for the job.
Since those early days, science has been my friend, my livelihood, and my purpose. I endeavor to this day to make sure the people I serve use quality products, achieve the best data, have access to quality-built instruments, and are supported with the best consumables, reagents, and applications.
“Teaching Real World Science is Fun, Educational, and Contagious!” We need more students in the field of science and the best way to attract young scientists is to teach them “Real Science!”
RealSciencePro is my way to say, “We care about science, we care about quality, and we care about customer success!”
So…why all the talk about ‘Real Science’? It’s a passion. I am passionate about science, particularly the techniques of chromatography. I am, what some people call, an expert in Ion Chromatography. I have years of experience, development, service and support, as well as leading major corporate sales departments, owned my own specialty separations labs, and even led a major IC company in North America. IC is something I am passionate about.
I was at one time a specialist in Amino Acid separations. I have installed instruments, developed applications, worked with difficult matrices, and had many successes with the Amino Acid Analyzers and technologies. It is a mini-passion at least and the separations and instrument care have always been interesting to me.
The other passion is water. I have been in so many laboratories all over the world and the one problem I observe is the poor quality of water labs choose on which to base their experiments. I have said for years, “The better the water, the better the chromatography!” And that includes lower maintenance costs, better separations, columns perform better and last longer, and more. I think ultra-high purity water should be at the start of every science experiment (if water is involved at all).
